Terms & Conditions of the Sale and Placement of Our Shelties...
Our philosophy is simple... none of our Shelties asked to come into this world and it is our responsibility to insure that each of their lives are enriched with love and joy from being active parts of their families, whether in ours, or should we share one with you. Our dogs are always welcome home, should any reason you be unable to keep your Armitage Sheltie, notify us and we will work with you for his or her safe return to us for placement in a suitable home.
Our companion puppies and adults are not for breeding or showing in the conformation ring. Companions are sold on a spay/neuter agreement and AKC limited registration. AKC limited registration means should the dog whelp a purebred litter, those resulting puppies are ineligible of AKC registration. For those who do not plan to breed or show in conformation, a companion puppy or adult would be the right choice for you. Please be prepared to enroll and take your Armitage Sheltie to at least one puppy class and the first level of obedience. Our dogs are guaranteed for 72-hours. We recommend that you take your new Sheltie to your veterinarian for an evaluation. If your veterinarian finds anything wrong with the puppy that makes it unsuitable as a companion you may return the puppy for a refund of the purchase price. Our dogs also have a 2 year genetic guarantee, should the dog develop a genetic disorder that prevents it from being a companion, we will replace the dog with a similar one (sex/color/quality) when one becomes available. All of our sales are subject to Ohio State Sales Tax (6.25%).
Our show puppies and adults are sold on very specific agreements that vary; however show puppies and adults were born and bred to be champions. We will help novices get their start, but it may not be in the traditional way of simply buying a dog. Those breeders reading this understand that exceptional individuals are the result of hard work and study. They are generally "priceless" and not available for a mere price. Those interested in showing and breeding should consider developing a relationship with a reputable breeder of champions and learning from them before buying. Volunteer to help them groom, clean, whelp a litter or two, and actually spend time learning from that person. After you have developed a trusting relationship with that person, perhaps you two will discuss the possibility of an unconventional means for you to acquire a very special individual; perhaps through a lease agreement, or after you've proven yourself to them they will feel that they can trust you with one of their best on a co-ownership of sorts. Co-ownerships and leases are not to be entered into lightly, I do not recommend co-owning or leasing from anyone until you have had ample opportunity to really get to know them, and always have a written agreement.
Occasionally we will offer special individuals that we feel could help someone get to the next level, a breeding quality individual. Most generally however, those that are bred should be show worthy. There must be a unique situation about the individual that would make he or she an asset in a breeding program without necessarily obtaining an AKC championship title.
